Jeffrey A. Cummer

President and Senior Portfolio Manager, SMH Capital Advisors, Inc., Fort Worth (Formerly Cummer/Moyers Capital Advisors)

Jeffrey A. Cummer, President and Senior Portfolio Manager, is the founder of SMH Capital Advisors. He is a veteran of the high yield arena, finding values since the first high yield securities collapse in the late 1980’s. Currently, Mr. Cummer is responsible for the portfolio design and allocation management of SMH Capital Advisor’s fixed income strategies. Mr. Cummer, together with CIO Dwayne Moyers, is responsible for the initial development and continuing enhancement of the firm’s quantitative investment models. In addition, Mr. Cummer reviews the final decisions to add or delete positions from client portfolios. Before forming his own investment firm in 1989, he served as a Limited Partner with Edward D. Jones & Company. Prior to that, Mr. Cummer was a corporate cash manager and financial analyst for the GTE Corporation (now Verizon). He is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in finance and risk management.

Dwayne Moyers

Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager, SMH Capital Advisors, Inc., Fort Worth

As Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager, Dwayne Moyers is responsible for idea generation, day-to-day portfolio management and overall risk control for the firm’s fixed income strategies. In addition, Mr. Moyers reviews the quality of the data that is input into the firms’ investment models and is responsible for providing the qualitative overlay which occurs at the end of the investment process. Before teaming with Mr. Cummer, Mr. Moyers was a credit analyst with the Tandy Corporation. Mr. Moyers holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
