Our growth strategy is to expand asset management and fiduciary activities and related business by increasing our assets under
management through (i) acquisitions, (ii) internal growth, and (iii) better coordination between our subsidiaries.
Expanding Capital Markets Activities
We are committing greater resources to our investment banking and merchant banking businesses. Sanders Morris Harris Group
is also focusing our research coverage on geographic regions and industries that we believe offer the most significant opportunities.
Our independent and regional focus is particularly well suited for clients and industries based in the southwestern regions we serve.
Improving Profitability Of Brokerage Operations
Sanders Morris Harris Group is continuing to improve the profitability of our brokerage operations primarily by hiring additional
experienced, highly productive investment executives and offering enhanced training, product offerings, information systems,
support and access to the expertise and services of each of the financial services firms. Our entrepreneurial culture and financial
strength are aiding the implementation of this strategy.
Supplementing Growth With Strategic Acquisitions
Sanders Morris Harris Group actively pursues opportunities to acquire other firms in complementary businesses that strengthen or
expand our geographic or product base. Attractive acquisition opportunities exist, specifically among smaller regional firms seeking
to affiliate with a larger firm while also retaining their regional identity. Consolidation trends in the financial services industry should
allow SMHG to hire proven financial professionals who prefer the culture and opportunities inherent in a regional, entrepreneurial firm.
Acquisitions may also allow the Company to realize cost benefits by leveraging our infrastructure.
